Product Notes
Great American musical film about entertainer Lon Prentice (Dick Foran), who is keen to enlist in the US Army. However, Lon is prevented from doing so because he has one flat foot. After Lon has the problem fixed, he is accepted for enlistment. Soon after basic training starts, Private Lon Prentice tells his commander that he finds most military training useless, unnecessary and beneath him. Lon's commanding officer tells all army personnel that Lon is exempt from doing anything he doesn't want to do, and this turns the whole army camp topsy-turvy. This is a wildly entertaining WWII film featuring The Andrews Sisters (Maxene, Patty & LaVerne), Harry James. Dance numbers by The Jivin' Jacks and Jills, Shemp Howard of The Three Stooges, and a young Donald O'Connor add their talents to this morale booster. Extra bonus material - Newsreel clips of Hollywood Movie Stars and Studios with coverage of their efforts to help the armed forces at the end of the movie. (70 minutes - 1942 - Black & White - 4:3)
