Product Notes
An extremely talented jazz pianist, Jack Wilson became the youngest member ever to join the Ft. Wayne, Indiana Musician's union at the tender age of 15. By the time he was 26 years old, he had already added organ to his arsenal and had played with some of the biggest names in jazz including James Moody, Dinah Washington, Gene Ammons, Sonny Stitt, Eddie Harris, Lou Donaldson, Herbie Mann, Jackie McLean and Johnny Griffin, did recording stints with Sammy Davis Jr.., Sarah Vaughn, Lou Rawls, Eartha Kitt, Julie London and Sonny & Cher - and was a featured soloist on several of Lambert Hendricks and Ross recordings. In 1963 he released his first recording as a leader, an impressive debut entitled "The Jack Wilson Quartet featuring Roy Ayers." Presented here is his highly acclaimed 1966 release with the quartet featuring Roy Ayers entitled "Ramblin'" which features Wilson on piano with Varner Barlow (drums); Monk Montgomery (bass) and Roy Ayers (vibes). All selections newly remastered.
