Product Notes

A refined tribute to Maurice Ravel on the 150th anniversary of his birth, this album brings together some of his most luminous and contrasting orchestral works. Combining delicacy, elegance, and flashes of virtuosity, this program explores the full richness of Ravel's world: the poetry of Le Tombeau de Couperin, the shimmering colors of Introduction et Allegro, the timeless grace of Pavane pour une infante defunte, and the jubilant energy of the famous Concerto in G.

Conceived by conductor Alain Trudel as a dialogue between chamber music intimacy and symphonic grandeur, the recording highlights the full subtlety of Ravel's writing, balancing restraint, modernity, and jazz influences. It also features the complete orchestral version of Le Tombeau de Couperin, including Kenneth Hesketh's orchestrations for the Fugue and the Toccata.

Pianist elisabeth Pion, a rising star on the international scene, and harpist Valerie Milot, renowned for her sensitive and luminous playing, are accompanied by the Trois-Rivieres Symphony Orchestra under the inspired baton of Alain Trudel. An album that is at once elegant, lively, and deeply Ravelian.
