Product Notes

The classic 1974 album by the pioneers of female rock, often quoted as the original "godmothers of chick rock"- Rock And Roll Survivors was originally released in 1974 on Casablanca Records and was to be the band's final album. It can't be underestimated how important Fanny is in rock music history. Their ability, creativity and the level of success and reputation they achieved in this field was unprecedented. This album was made with an exciting new lineup chosen by Nickey Barclay and Jean Millington, and including Brie Howard and Suzi Quatro's sister, Patti. Patti Quatro is one of the earliest recognized female rock pioneers - who released some of the first all-female band recordings on major labels from 1964 onwards. This expanded and remastered deluxe edition has been overseen by band-member and guitarist, Patti Ericson, and includes the full original 1974 album remixed and remastered along with a previously unreleased, in-venue live opera as performed on the U.S. tour in 1974. Fans can also enjoy exclusive bonus tracks of Fanny's live cover versions of classics by Holland & Dozier, Ike Turner and Lennon & McCartney recorded at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go live on New Year's Eve 1974. These very special unreleased live recordings were captured with the new band line-up performing their very first public gig at Whiskey-A-Go-Go, after a mere two week's practice. The album includes all of the original album tracks, remixed and remastered for 2025 and features the original artwork, updated and expanded for this deluxe re-issue. The CD booklet also includes updated sleeve notes by Patti Ericson. One of the band's fans was David Bowie, who during an interview with Billboard in 1999 stated: "One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And that is Fanny. They were one of the finest... rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary... they're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever, it just wasn't their time". Wise words as the interest level in Fanny continues to increase and endure around the world.
