Steve Davis is recognized as one of the great trombonists of his generation; a sideman with Art Blakey, Jackie Maclean, Horace Silver, and Chick Corea, he cut his teeth in Jackie Mac's burgeoning Hartt School of Music in the late 1980's. In this album, trombone master Steve Davis pays tribute to the music of legendary jazz trombonist and brilliant composer J.J. Johnson, including rare Johnson gems as well as perhaps his most famous composition, Lament.
