Several pieces on this release were written specifically for the violinists who performed them. All of the works have been premiered either at the Bergen International Festival or the Valdres Summer Symphony. These musicians are all results of the strong musical presence from many places around the country, from Alta in the north to Oslo in the south. For every summer since 1993, young musicians have had the opportunity to come together for one week to perform in Nord-Aurdal. Alf Richard Kraggerud, the first leader of the Razumovsky Academy in London, is founder and artistic director of the festival.
