Product Notes
The brainchild of successful session musician/producer Mike Deasy (sitar, guitar) and guitar whiz Ry Cooder (slide guitar), the Ceyleib People were a studio band that created a psychedelic blend of Indian and Western music - a truly unique sound for 1967 when their only album, "Tanyet," was originally released. Besides Deasey and Cooder, the band included Deasy's 6-year old son Michael "Sean" Deasy (drum, vocals); studio greats Joe Osborne (bass, engineer); Larry Knechtel (bass, keyboards); Jim Gordon (drums); Ben Benay (sitar); Mike Melvoin (keyboards) and Jim Horn (woodwinds) - an amazing line-up of future L.A. studio regulars who went on to play on countless hit albums over the years including those of the Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Derek and the Dominos, as well as several Phil Spector related projects. "Lybuk Hyd", who was also credited on the album, was actually an alias for Mike Deasy himself. Finally available in the digital domain, all selections newly remastered.
