Kansas found themselves redefining their music after their debut album a year before. Besides the title track the album offers a lot other quality pieces. "Lamplight Symphony" offers long orchestrated passages, while "Down the Road" shows their energy to the max. The music is truly a fascinating blend of prog rock and bar rock, making it one of the definite milestones of American prog. Kansas became popular during the 1970s with hits like "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind". Besides their well-known ballads they also recorded some impressive progressive pieces.
