Hip-hop based beats that come from the same musical crates as the likes of Rjd2 and Memphix, dusting off old jazz, obscuro funk and psych bits and pieces, repolishing and rearranging them for modern day headphone junkies. Moodier than your average record dealer, with at least twice as much soul, it's heavy on atmospherics and even heavier on the beats, about the only thing that cuts through those dark swirling chords and busy basslines. Largely instrumental, it's the drums that mostly give the tracks their identity. A first rate debut LP from a guy that's content to let the music do the talking.
