Product Notes

2016 two CD collection. Standing Right Here - The Anthology: The Buddah & Epic Years is a sumptuous first-of-it's-kind set by the fabulous Melba Moore, spanning the renowned entertainer's recordings between 1975-1980 for the Buddah and Epic labels. Included are all of Melba's US charted hits during this exciting period of her career when she first rose to prominence globally. Initially signed to Mercury Records, Melba garnered her first Grammy nomination in 1970. It was after her move to Buddah Records in 1975 that she began her ascent to popularity as a recording artist; in the space of just two years, Melba scored seven US R&B hit singles including 'This Is It' (a dance/R&B and pop charter as well as Melba's first UK chart entry) and the powerhouse ballad, 'Lean On Me' (a Top 20 R&B hit) which remains an integral part of her live repertoire to this day. Disc One draws from Melba's four Buddah albums including her work with producers Van McCoy and Eugene McDaniels. In 1978, Melba signed with Epic and scored two immediate hits with the Bee Gees' 'You Stepped Into My Life' and 'Pick Me Up, I'll Dance,' both also big club tracks. Disc Two of this luxury package - which includes superb mastering by Nick Robbins and stellar notes with renowned UK writer Charles Waring featuring extensive quotes from Melba specifically for this anthology - focuses on tracks from her three Epic albums, produced by the Philly team of McFadden & Whitehead and Pete Bellotte amongst others.
