Five-disc set includes: Arabian Nights (1942)Dazzling adventure spectacle, loosely based on the famed 19th-century fables, follows two brothers' battle over their late father's throne. Virtuous sibling Haroun-Al-Raschid (Jon Hall) is nearly killed by evil brother Kamar (Leif Erickson) in a fight, but sultry dancing girl Sherazade (Maria Montez) nurses him back to health. With help from best friend Ali (Sabu), Aladdin (John Qualen), and an aging Sinbad (Shemp Howard), Haroun sets out to regain his rightful position. 87 min. C/Rtg: NR A Thousand And One Nights (1945)This semi-comic spin on the Arabian Nights fables offers Cornel Wilde in his first action/adventure lead as Aladdin, and follows his efforts to win the hand of a sultan's lovely daughter (Adele Jergens) with the help of a feisty female genie (Evelyn Keyes) and his conniving pickpocket sidekick (Phil Silvers). Rex Ingram, Dennis Hoey, Philip Van Zandt, Nestor Paiva also star; look for Shelley Winters and Nina Foch among the harem girls. 93 min. C/Rtg: NR The Desert Hawk (1950)Learning of the arranged wedding between beautiful Princess Scheherazade (Yvonne de Carlo) and cruel Prince Murad (George Macready), the audacious bandit Omar (Richard Greene) crashed the nuptials-claiming to be Murad-and made off with both bride and dowry. The enraged Murad, however, was conniving to avenge his dignity... by slaying his betrothed and letting his impersonator take the fall. Technicolor adventure co-stars Rock Hudson, Jackie Gleason, Joe Besser, Carl Esmond. 77 min. C/Rtg: NR Zarak (1956)In 19th-century Afghanistan, young Zarak Khan (Victor Mature) is exiled from his village after he falls in love with the youngest of his father's wives (Anita Ekberg). Thrilling adventure tale also stars Finlay Currie, Patrick McGoohan. 96 min. C/Rtg: NR Omar Khayyam (1962)Cornel Wilde takes the title role of the 11th-century Persian polymath in this speculative swashbuckler, juggling his service to the Shah (Raymond Massey) staving off a bloodthirsty cult of Byzantine assassins with the forbidden romantic pursuit of one of his liege's many wives (Debra Paget). Flashy costumer also stars Michael Rennie, John Derek, Sebastian Cabot, and Yma Sumac (who sings the title song). 101 min. C/Rtg: NR Standard/Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Region Free
