Gwynplaine is a side show freak, abused by society and royalty. He is lured into the perverse plot of an evil duchess, but will he stay true to his love of a pretty young blind girl? The Man Who Laughs is routinely classified as a horror film, yet it's primary horror elements are it's atmosphere and the various shots of Veidt's bizarre face, which inspired Bob Kane's creation of the Joker. Still, it's a true classic and a film that any fan of vintage horror or silent movies should see.
