Minor Prophets is the third album by German-Canadian composer and pianist Johannes Wallmann. While Wallmann has just relocated to Bay Area, Minor Prophets represents his tribute to New York City, his home of the last twelve years. Wallmann's distinctive compositions capture the energy, excitement, and diversity of that city, juxtaposing complex, new harmonies with ebullient grooves and joyfully exuberant melodies. Minor Prophets features inspired performances by a quintet of several long-time musical collaborators: Wallmann's trio-mates Sean Conly (bass) and Jeff Hirshfield (drums), JUNO-award winning trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, and introduces a major new saxophone talent, Geoffrey Countryman.
