Early innovators of the Washington DC go-go funk sound; Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers developed a sub-genre of funk music in the mid to late 1970’s that sparked a new movement and put Washington, D.C. on the musical map soul music wise. The late guitarist and singer Chuck Brown is considered the godfather of the movement and his influence has been felt by generations of musicians in the D.C. area and beyond.
