Product Notes
The Wilburn Brothers were a popular and successful country duo whose chart career spanned fifteen years, during which they had more than fifteen hits in the Billboard country charts. Hailing from Arkansas they had a high profile as child performers, appearing as The Wilburn Children on The Grand Ole Opry when they were about ten years old. They were regulars on The Louisiana Hayride before being drafted to serve in the Korean War, after which they returned to music and toured with Faron Young and Webb Pierce until signing to Decca in 1954. This great-value 59-track 2-CD set comprises most of their A & B sides for Decca during this era, plus selected titles from their albums "Teddy And Doyle", "Side By Side", "Livin' In God's Country", "The Big Heartbreak", "Sing" & "City Limits". It features their fifteen Top 30 country chart entries from these years, including the Top 10 hits "Go Away With Me", "I'm So In Love With You", "A Woman's Intuition", "Somebody's Back In Town", "Which One Is To Blame", "Trouble's Back In Town". It also features their Top 10hit with Webb Pierce, "Sparkling Brown Eyes", and their two Top 10 hits with Ernest Tubb, "Mister Love" and "Hey Mr. Bluebird". It's a substantial and entertaining overview of the first era of their career, and an excellent showcase for their distinctive talent as their style evolved as country music changed with the impact of rock 'n' roll.
