Product Notes
Digitally remastered edition of the soundtrack to this 1953 production. The 1925 uprising of the Riffs in Morocco against French colonial rule was the inspiration for The Desert Song, an operetta by Sigmund Romberg, Otto Harbach and Oscar Hammerstein II. After a successful Broadway production in 1926, it was turned into a film in 1929, again in 1943 and finally, and most successfully in 1953. This latter version features Kathryn Grayson and Gordon MacRae, with the innuendo and adult humor being removed to make the film appeal to a wider audience. Hallmark. 2010.
