Product Reviews
Diana Navarro has made a name for herself as a rising flamenco fusion artist, but for her fourth solo album the singer felt a respectful tribute to her musical roots was long overdue. Recording live at Seville's Teatro Quintero in July 2011 in front of a small audience, Navarro is accompanied by Antonio Campos and Juan Antonio Su rez "Cano" in a cante recital that pays homage to legendary artists such as La Ni a de la Puebla, Pepe Pinto, Juanito Valderrama, Marif de Triana, and Enrique Morente, all of whom had a decisive influence on Navarro's formative years. This release comes with a DVD of the performance. ~ Mariano Prunes, Rovi
Product Notes
DIANA NAVARRO pays homage to flamenco on her new album, recorded live at the Quintero Theatre in Seville last July. "FLAMENCO" is a tribute to a style of music that Diana Navarro grew up listening to, and contains versions of songs by such great artists as La Niña de la Puebla, Pepe Pinto, and Juanito Valderrama, among others. DIANA NAVARRO shows her versatility on these simple songs. For the occasion, she enlisted the participation of two artists from the flamenco world: Antonio Campos (voice) and Juan Antonio Suárez "Cano" (guitar). Known for combining traditional styles such as flamenco and copla with Arabic, Oriental, and classical rhythms, Diana Navarro came to public attention with the single "Sola" from her first album "No te olvides de mí" (2005). The album went double platinum (over 200,000 copies sold), led to more than 120 concerts, was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award (Best New Artist), won the Ondas Award for Best New Artist, the Canal Sur Audience Award 2005, and the Cadena Dial Award 2006, and was nominated at the Spanish Music Awards in six categories. On "FLAMENCO", Diana Navarro returns to her roots, and her roots are precisely that-flamenco.
