Sounds from the Alley I / Various[CD]
'Sounds from the Alley' Volume I is the first in a series of compilation albums featuring musicians who have performed at JJ's Alley Bricktown Pub in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Of the 15 artists on the album, some are relatively unknown (presently), while some have had national and international success. -- At the time of the release of this album (December, 2011), Aranda has a hit song entitled 'Undone' being played nationally on rock radio (currently # 24 on national charts). Similar to Extreme's song 'More than Words', their song 'Train of Thought' (track # 4) is a beautiful, easy-listening, acoustic ballad with amazing harmonies from brothers Dameon and Gabe Aranda, and is unlike anything the band has released previously. Aranda gained much national recognition when American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson covered two of their songs on her album 'All I Ever Wanted'. -- Mike McClure previously authored a song covered by Garth Brooks and has a huge regional fan base in Oklahoma and Texas. He teamed up with the tremendously talented red-dirt group, 'The Damn Quails,' to record track # 6 entitled 'Swan Dive'. -- Phil Brown is known internationally as a world-class electric guitarist and has recorded a well received Jimmy Hendrix tribute album. Track # 7 'Song for Lee' is an acoustic ballad co-written by Phil and a friend of his who is not in the music business about a girl he loves. This is Phil's only release of an acoustic song. Phil has previously authored songs covered by Cher and Pat Benatar. -- Mike Hosty (track # 10) authored 'Oklahoma Breakdown' which was recorded by Stoney Larue and voted the 3rd most popular Oklahoma Song in history -- Two songs released by Ali Harter (track # 12) were featured on the hit television show Grey's Anatomy. Ali also had a gold record selling collaberation with French recording artist Wax TAILOR. -- Scott Keeton (track # 11) has performed with Art Garfunkel at Carnegie Hall and has travelled the country with his very successful Johnny Cash tribute show 'The Man in Black' -- Guitarist Bart Weilburg co-produced the album and plays guitar on 8 of the tracks. Bart has appeared on the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville, TN and has played on over 20 albums including 'Seduced by Money' with his former band 'The Thieves.' He has also performed with former members of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, BR549, Hank III and Bob Dylan.
